On May 1st, the Day of Unity, Struggle, and Solidarity of the Working Class, we are in the streets and squares against the capitalist system, poverty, imperialist wars, and racism.
Today, as capitalist exploitation against the working class and laborers intensifies across the world, poverty deepens, and competition and hegemonic struggles among imperialist powers continue alongside the arms race, hundreds of thousands of people are being killed and millions are being forced to migrate due to attacks such as those by the US-Israel fascist alliance against Iran, Palestine, and Lebanon, the Russia-Ukraine war, and many other local conflicts.
At every level, the rulers of the imperialist-capitalist system are discarding international law and norms, destroying democratic rights and freedoms that were won through struggle, and ruthlessly attacking socialist and revolutionary forces.
However, these attacks cannot prevent communist, revolutionary, and antifascist forces, the working class, and all oppressed peoples around the world from continuing their struggle for liberation. For this reason, in many countries, the leading forces of the working class—communists, revolutionaries, and socialists—are being imprisoned en masse.
In Turkey, on February 3, the raids on the Socialist Party of the Oppressed (ESP) and socialist organizations and institutions such as SKM, SGDF, DİSK/LİMTER-İŞ, BEKSAV, Polen Ecology, ÖGK, EHB, and ETHA, along with the ransacking of their offices and the homes of their members, the seizure of technical equipment and archives, and the arrest of 85 socialists, became another example of fascism recognizing no law or rules and attempting to liquidate revolutionary opposition. As in previous years, the fascist regime detained dozens of people before May 1st on suspicion that they would participate.
Prisons are being turned into centers of torture and massacre for political prisoners. Practices such as isolation, communication bans, obstruction of release, denial of medical treatment for sick prisoners, torture, starvation to death as seen in Israeli prisons, and holding detainees under unregistered strict isolation—as in the cases of journalists Eva Maria Michelmann, Ahmet Polad, and thousands of captives in Syria—are being used in attempts to break revolutionary prisoners.
From Turkey-Kurdistan to Palestine, from India to Iran, from the USA to the Philippines, from Peru to EU countries, from Tunisia to Syria, we salute political prisoners all over the world who resist all forms of repression and defend their revolutionary ideals and human dignity.
As TSP, we salute the struggle of political prisoners who resist in prisons while remaining committed to their revolutionary ideals, and we celebrate May 1st of the working class and all political prisoners.
Standing with political prisoners and fighting for their freedom is part of the struggle for freedom of the working class and oppressed peoples.
We call on workers, laborers, and antifascist forces to expand the struggle for the freedom of political prisoners in the spirit of unity, struggle, and solidarity of May 1st.
Long Live May 1st!
