Women’s Strike on March 8 Against Violence, War and Racism!

Let’s Strengthen Solidarity with Women Political Prisoners!

Women’s Strike on March 8 Against Violence, War and Racism!

We are greeting March 8, International Working Women’s Day, in a period in which imperialist wars and occupations—and as a result migration, unemployment and poverty—are increasing; all imperialist states are preparing for a new war of division; fascist movements are being strengthened and brought to power in many countries; and, in general, all democratic rights and freedoms—and in particular the gains of women—are under heavy attack.

In Rojava, women’s achievements are being targeted by regional reactionary states and imperialist powers. In Iran, women’s demands for freedom are suppressed with blood and massacres. Women and children are dying on migration routes. In wars, the bodies of women are used in an attempt to break the will of peoples and oppressed nations.

The male-dominated system and its apparatus of violence—the state—are trying, from Palestine to Sudan and from Syria to Turkey, to block women’s demands for freedom, their struggle for justice, and women’s solidarity through massacres, harassment and rape.

All these patriarchal attacks cannot keep women who have developed gender consciousness away from struggle. Murders of women are turning into positions of confrontation with the male-dominated system and fascism. With its struggle, the LGBTI+ movement is increasing its social visibility and gaining ground. The women’s movement is taking on a more internationalist character. Neither the sexual violence carried out by Israeli Zionism against women who set out with the flotilla to break the blockade of Gaza, nor the sexual violence against women who joined the convoy heading to Turkey to break the siege of Kobanê in Rojava, can prevent women’s international solidarity. Neither the mass arrests targeting socialist women who have carried the struggle for justice and freedom into the streets in Turkey on February 3, nor the massacres, arrests and executions in Iran, can suppress women’s struggle for freedom.

As TSP, we salute the ongoing struggle of women for equality, justice and freedom all around the world. We call on all working women to take to the streets on March 8 and to join the Women’s Strike against patriarchy, imperialist wars, racism and fascism.

We call for the strengthening of international solidarity with women political prisoners in prisons, for becoming guests in their cells through letters, and for supporting them materially.

As TSP, we call on everyone to join our “Sister Prisoner” campaign, which we launched against the mass arrest attacks carried out by the fascist Turkish state against socialists on February 3, and to expand solidarity with imprisoned socialist women.

Long live women’s solidarity!

Freedom for all political prisoners!
