In the world, in Turkey, Kurdistan and the Middle East, we left behind a year of fierce struggle between the bourgeoisie and the working class striving against exploitation, between fascist and reactionary governments and the peoples demanding freedom.
Despite the the colonialist fascist Turkish state with all brutality conducting crimes against humanity in Southern Kurdistan and Rojava, including the usage of prohibited chemical weapons, in this year we have borne witness to the honorable struggles of the guerillas, the people of Rojava, and the people of Palestine who since the 7th October have been resisting the genocidal assault from the zionist Israeli state.
We have seen the struggles of women in Turkey as they continue to build resistance against the patriarchy, of students eager to take charge of their own futures, of those waging an ecological struggle against the exploitation of the environment, and of workers fighting for humane living and working conditions.
We now leave behind us a year filled with the resistance of communists and revolutionaries against the attacks, arrests and detentions of the colonialist, occupationist and fascist Turkish state in Turkey and Kurdistan, who by refusing to capitulate and delivering blow upon blow to fascism together weave their united struggle.
We have witnessed the honorable struggles of revolutionary and political prisoners against fascism’s attacks which saw the expansion of the Imrali system of isolation designed to force the surrender of revolutionary and political prisoners, an increase in the usage of torture, denials of medical treatment for sick prisoners and the blocking of their release, and the incessant violations of prisoners’ rights including the right to communication.
We have witnessed the beginning and continuation of the hunger strike started by Kurdish revolutionary prisoners against the genocidal fascist palace regime’s near 3-year-long holding of Mr Ocalan in absolute isolation.
We have witnessed the continuation of the struggle against the patriarchy across all areas. We salute all those who resist tyranny and oppression both on the inside and outside, those who uphold human dignity, and who will never give up on their desire to see a world free of classes and exploitation.
We celebrate this year of political prisoners, the working classes and all oppressed peoples with the firm belief that these struggles will continue to grow through 2024.
With the will and decisiveness to grow the struggle for the freedom of all political prisoners we welcome the new year.
